Straight answers.
Including the ones where the honest answer is “no”.
Why do you only sell one product?
Because one is all we can stand behind. Every bottle and tin on this site is the same extra-virgin olive oil from the same harvest at the same mill — you are choosing a size, not a product. We are not a shop with a hundred bottles; we are one family bringing in one oil we know completely.
How do you know where it comes from?
Because there is only one place it can come from: Frantoio Oleario Quaglia in Roccadaspide, Campania, milling since 1901. Grove, press and bottling line are in the same place, run by the same family, and we have stood in that mill. The producer’s name is on the label and the traceability record comes with every bottle.
Why only the GTA?
Because that is all we have. We bring in one allocation per harvest, sized for one city, and we deliver every bottle ourselves. We do not ship across Canada and we do not sell to stores. When this year’s share is spoken for, it is gone until the next harvest.
Where does it actually come from?
Frantoio Oleario Quaglia, a working mill in Roccadaspide, in the province of Salerno, Campania, Italy. The groves and the mill are in the same place. The family has been pressing there since 1901.
Is it really extra virgin?
Yes — cold extracted on traditional stone, with the paste kept below 27°C, and no refining or deodorising at any stage.
What olives are in it?
Rotondella, Nostrale, Frantoio and Leccino, hand-picked from the second half of October.
Is it DOP or IGP certified?
No, and we will not say otherwise. It participates in the UNAPROL traceability programme, which documents the production area, producer and batch. That is documentation, not a certification or a quality grade.
Where is it bottled?
In Italy, at the mill that pressed it. It is filled and sealed before it leaves. Nothing arrives here in bulk to be packed locally.
Can I get this in a store?
No. It is not stocked in Canadian supermarkets. It comes from the mill, or it does not come at all.
Which size should I buy?
750 mL if you are trying it or finishing dishes. 1 L if you cook with it weekly. The 3 L and 5 L tins work out to the same price per litre as the bottles, and the tin keeps light out — light is what ages oil fastest.
How long does it keep?
Best within about eighteen months of the harvest, and best kept somewhere cool and dark — not next to the stove, however convenient that is.
Why is it more expensive than the supermarket?
Cold extraction yields less oil from the same olives, and bottling at origin costs more than shipping in bulk. That is the trade you are paying for.
How does the gift option work?
Every bottle and tin has a gift version, about $10 more. It arrives in a gift bag with your message written by hand on a card, plus an information sheet explaining where the oil comes from, how it is traced back to the mill and the batch, and why cold-extracted oil bottled at origin is better for you. You write your message on the product page before checkout.
Can you deliver it straight to the person I am gifting it to?
Yes. Order the gift version, write your message on the product page, and enter their address as the delivery address at checkout. We deliver it to their door on Sunday with your name on the card. If you would rather hand it over yourself, enter your own address instead.
When do you deliver?
Sundays, in person. Free to any GTA address with no minimum — order by Friday 11:59 p.m. Just outside the GTA (Hamilton, Burlington, Barrie) is free on orders of $250 or more; Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph and Niagara on $750 or more. Need it faster? Next-day delivery is $30. Full details on the Delivery page.
Do you do corporate gifting?
Yes — client gifts and staff gifts delivered together. Ask through the Large Orders page.
